Published Content includes:
Extracts – Selected passages or excerpts
Links – Referenced web resources
Documents – Uploaded files and materials
Note: Binders are not included in the Library and remain private to individual users.
Content Attributes
Each piece of published content has three key attributes:
Content Name – The title of the content
Content Description – Details about the content
Creator Name – The user who published the content
All three attributes are searchable, allowing you to find content by title, description, or creator.

The Detailed Content screen will display with complete information about the selected item

The Search function allows you to quickly find specific content by searching through key content attributes.
This feature is ideal when you know what you're looking for but need to locate it fast.

What Can Be Searched
The search function examines all Content Attributes:
Content Name – Searches all words and letters in content titles
Content Description – Searches all words and letters in content descriptions
Creator Name – Searches all words and letters in creator names
Search results will display all published content matching your search criteria across any of these attributes.
Search by Name
Find content by searching for its title or name. This is useful when you remember what you called a particular piece of content or know part of its title.
Example: If you saved content titled "Contract Law Overview," you can search for "Contract" or "Overview" to locate it.
Search by Description
Search within the description text of your content. This allows you to find content based on notes, summaries, or details you've added to the description field.
Example: If you added a description mentioning "breach of contract remedies," searching for "remedies" will return content with that term in the description.
Search by Creator (Group and Library Screens Only)
On the Group Screen and Library Screen, you can search for content by the creator's name. This helps you find content created by specific team members or contributors.
Note: This search option is not available on the Home Screen, as all content there has been created by you.
How to Use Search
Locate the search bar on the Library Screen
Enter your search term – type the name or description keyword you're looking for
View results – the content list will filter to show matching items
Select content – click on any result to open the Detailed Content screen
Tips for Effective Searching
Be specific – Use distinctive words that are likely to appear in the content's name or description
Try variations – If you don't find what you're looking for, try different words or shorter search terms
When to Use Search
Search is most effective when:
You remember specific words from the content's name or description
You need to quickly locate a particular piece of content
You want to find all content containing a specific term or phrase
For broader exploration of content, consider using the Browse function to navigate by Area of Law, Topic, or Keyword instead.
Browsing the Library
Browse mode allows you to navigate through published content using a structured hierarchy rather than searching for specific terms.
The Browse function helps you quickly find content by filtering it through organized categories. This is especially useful when you want to locate specific materials based on their legal context.
How to Browse
Click the Browse button to switch from Search mode
Navigate through content using the following structure:
Area of Law → Topic → Keyword
What is Browse?
Browse allows you to filter content using three hierarchical categories that you've previously assigned to your content:
Area of Law – The broad legal field (e.g., Criminal Law, Contract Law, Property Law)
Topic – More specific subjects within an area of law
Keyword – Detailed tags for precise categorization
Browse Navigation
Area of Law – Start by selecting from your designated areas of law
Topic – Once an area is selected, view topics within that legal practice area
Keyword – After selecting a topic, content associated with specific keywords is displayed
This hierarchical approach uses the topic tree as a table of contents, making it easy to explore content organized by legal categories.
Where Can You Browse?
You can use the Browse function on three different screens in Casenoter:
Home Screen – Browse your personal content
Library Screen – Browse your library content
The Browse function operates exactly the same way on each of these screens, providing a consistent experience throughout the application.
